Description

Prepare your students for full-fledged Christian Grammar School at Home with the Prep Year Later Knowledge Guide.

This Prep Year Guide is designed to serve two purposes—to give late-blooming students a year to ease into grammar school, and to give all students a transition year between the light courseload of Early Knowledge and the more rigorous courseload of the Later Knowledge years.

The Prep Year Later Knowledge Guide teaches students to begin taking responsibility for completing their daily assignments with a light courseload of literature, history, Bible reading, writing, and arithmetic—following the old American classical style methods, suited to children around age 9 or 10.

The Prep Year Guide supplements Grammar of Grace core curriculum.

This is such a wonderful start for moving a child into their more formal school years. It is gentle but rich. My daughter was 10 when she started and had already been used to a decent workload from another curriculum so she was thrilled by the lighter workload at the beginning. The assignments build and are really teaching a lot but did not feel overwhelming. Plus she LOVED the books she was assigned…not so much writing summaries, but she is getting better at that!
I had been using a different curriculum with my daughter and I was pushed over the edge to start using this when one of the books assigned had her in tears over its tragic ending. We had already been doing the memory work from the core curriculum (and loved it!) and I realized I wanted my daughter to read books that would deal with hard issues of life but would leave her with the hope of the gospel and not the sorrow of the world. I’m already excited for my next oldest daughter to start using this when she is a little bit older.
